Searching For Answers

Searching for Answers.

Daily, I search for answers. Deep in my heart and mind, I know I am a sinner saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for my sins. Still, many days I feel like a ship without a rudder or compass, simply drifting afloat.

I know I must read God’s Word to truly know Him and deepen my relationship with Him. For most of my life, I felt called to help people. This help generally takes the form of connecting people to resources and providing solutions to individuals concerning business matters but also helping people figure out the right path to take in life. My wife calls it a water tower view. I see connections, spot solutions, and believe most problems have answers. I refuse to accept the phrase, “that can’t be done.” For me a quote that resonates best is from Napoleon Hill who once said: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Feelings, Nothing More Than Feelings.

Helping people defines what I do. Yet, too often, I feel emotionally flat afterward. Joy fades quickly, and I move on to the next project. While I have a handful of friends, I often feel isolated and alone.
This reality drives my need for God in my life. I know only He can fill this emptiness and offer unconditional love and encouragement. Knowing this truth in my head solves only half the problem. The other half is allowing it to penetrate my heart.

Retirement and Reality.

Getting older, especially in retirement, brings a strange season. The vast majority of people spend their entire life trading time for money to survive. Then one day, you realize more stuff you worked for holds no answers. Travel does not satisfy. Vacations do not fulfill. Days turn into weeks and months, and time slips away. While looking back tells a story looking ahead is only what matters, and the runway is getting shorter.

Seeking Part Time Employment Opportunity.

I have considered posting a notice on LinkedIn, just to see the response.

Seeking a part time employment to make a real difference. My time is limited and valuable. I am not interested in trading my time for money for a meaningless job. I am seeking a position that offers in return for my efforts by providing genuine appreciation, a overall sense of purpose, and fulfillment measured by changing lives. Reach out if such an opportunity exists within your organization.

Getting Older.

The older I get, the more complex life feels. I know that I am not alone in these thoughts and feelings. Many people are also searching for answers, but my guess is few are asking the right questions. The world is constantly providing distractions that steal our focus. People spend too much time alone, doom scrolling, and absorbing fear-driven content. The more you become self absorbed the more your mind becomes numb.

The Truth.

Which phrase rings true to you? “The truth will set you free,” or “You can’t handle the truth?”
We control very little in life yet we always control how we respond. It is my hope that God will grant me the wisdom to accept the truth that  what I control is limited and to help me turn over my insecurities, worries, self doubt to Him to handle.
