Why You Need to Rethink Your Insurance Before It’s Too Late

Today is another day. It brings some fresh moments—and a bit of the same old, same old. My iPhone SE home button is acting up again. Honestly, it’s both disappointing and frustrating that Apple continues to push larger phones instead of offering a smaller option that fits in your hand. This is the second time I’ve had to consider replacing my phone because it won’t read my fingerprint.

There are hidden risks to buying a home.

Anyway, I wanted to share something most people don’t realize about owning a home. If you’re considering buying, there are two key steps to take. First, run a CLUE Report on the property before proceeding. This report can reveal past insurance claims that might affect your rates or eligibility. Second, if you decide to move forward, purchase title insurance. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Most homeowners are dangerously underinsured.

Shockingly, one in eight homes in the U.S. has no homeowners insurance at all. Worse yet, up to three out of four homeowners are underinsured and may not even be aware of it.

It’s time to review your coverage.

If you haven’t done so, it’s time to sit down with a qualified insurance agent and review, step by step, in detail, what insurance you have and what is and is not covered by your policy. With your homeowners policy, do you have a set dollar amount of coverage or replacement insurance? Do you have excess liability insurance? You would be surprised at how affordable that coverage is. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you don’t need a million dollars in coverage. There is a reason that there are four lawyers for every thousand people in the United States.

Protect your wealth and legacy.

It’s on you to protect yourself, your family, and your assets. Don’t wait and put off again—act now, before it’s too late.
